I was prompted to take an honors degree in Psychology while undergoing management training in a telecoms multinational.
My interest in the psychological health of an organisation deepened when I was promoted to Competence Manager of a 150 strong department. My role was to provide a mechanism to Line Management and technical staff that ensured employee competence developed along strategically important lines as quickly as possible. It was in this role I discovered the importance of a personalized development plan specific to the individual.
After nearly 5 years in Competence Management, I decided to break into mental health and started LifeHandle. It was my experience in Info Technology that prompted me to engineer a stress management course specifically for professional people in the technology and finance sectors. Thankfully a much wider pool of people have seen the relevance to their lives also.
In addition to Stress Management for groups, I also offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (a.k.a. CBT) to individuals. CBT is scientifically proven to help people with a wide range of psychological problems. My belief in the power of CBT to help people is such that the main trust of my continuing professional development for the last couple of years, has been in furthering my qualifications in CBT.
“I wholeheartedly endorse John’s achievements. There is much rhetoric spoken in companies
about the importance of people, "people are our greatest asset" etc but there is often
insufficient effort applied to people issues such as employee satisfaction and competence development.
This is often because managers do not necessarily know what to do !.
John O'Donoghue knows what to do !”

"Seldom in my time as a School Administrator have I ever received such a positive reaction
to a visiting speaker, your presentation on Friday was an inspiration for us all.
Your clear delivery, follow-up on questions and your availability afterwards was greatly
appreciated. Your handout is excellent and I will be recommending your services to my
Principal Colleagues."
